We previously told you about some of the most common air conditioning problems Indianapolis faces, but now we’re going to talk to you about some typical air conditioner troubles that you can help troubleshoot.
Your air conditioner is on but not blowing cool air.
If your A/C system is running but not truly cooling, you might need to have your refrigerant levels examined. Refrigerant is important to make sure the air coming out of your system is truly cool and keeps your home comfortable. Low refrigerant is oftentimes a symptom of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.
One way to confirm if you are low on refrigerant is to go to your A/C system and locate the two copper pipes. If the larger of the two is “sweating” or giving off condensation, touch the pipe to feel if it’s cold. If it’s cold to the touch, you are most likely good to go and won’t need more refrigerant.
If you’re unsure or the pipe is not producing condensation and is not cold when you feel it, call Broad Ripple Service Experts and we’ll pay you a visit and confirm your refrigerant levels and discover why your system is not blowing cool air. Remember, only an EPA Certified technician should handle refrigerant for central A/C systems, due to the hazards of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.
You air condenser fan isn’t circulating.
There are several reasons your condenser fan isn’t rotating. One could be that it merely burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another issue to watch for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is blocked. If you can look for these things, you may be able to find the trouble; but, if not, give Broad Ripple Service Experts a call and we can determine what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your air conditioning problem resolved.
Your A/C is not providing sufficient air cooling.
It sounds crazy, but try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems silly but sometimes our busy lives cause us to overlook the obvious. If that doesn’t get your AC cooling, check and replace the air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause major cooling troubles. Another problem that could cause your lack of cooling is an A/C system that is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is an all-too-common issue when homes are designed. Broad Ripple Service Experts is happy to come out and complete an analysis to confirm whether or not the size of your A/C system is causing your issues.
Air Conditioner shuts on and off constantly
If your A/C system is short cycling, or turning on or off consistently, it could mean one of many things. One thing is that your condenser or evaporator is blocked or dirty and should be cleaned. Once the equipment is cleaned and all clogs moved away, you may be back to a regular running AC. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if the home cools to the correct temperatures, but then the humidity causes your house to heat up quickly, this could cause an on-again, off-again air conditioner because it’s having to work harder to keep your family cool and comfortable.
No matter your trouble, whatever common or uncommon air conditioning issue you run into, Broad Ripple Service Experts is here for you around the clock. We are available to you so we can get your A/C cooling and get your home comfortable lickety-split.
