When you need heating, air conditioning or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will pay a trip charge and a diagnostic fee individually. Some companies you’ve worked with in the past may have combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we believe we can offer greater value by keeping them separate.
A trip charge includes the cost for a qualified plumber or HVAC technician to stop by your home. Sometimes called a service call fee, this cost is the base rate for sending our technicians, equipment and expertise to your doorstep. If you’d like to eliminate trip charges in the future, you can explore registering for one of our membership plans.
The diagnostic fee covers the services needed to find the root of a problem. With plumbing, this may consist of scoping. For HVAC repairs, it may involve taking a look at the inside of your unit. If you prefer to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for the repairs, the diagnostic fee would be rolled into the repair bill. However, you will be charged for the diagnostic services alone if you do not.
In general, a trip fee gets the plumber or HVAC technician to your property, while the diagnostic fee encompasses all the work involved in assessing the problem and coming up with a plan for repairs. If you are paying for repairs, you won’t notice the diagnostic fee because it’ll be rolled into the cost of the repairs.
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies will charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services at the same time, we have two individual fees. This allows us to price our services in the fairest possible manner.
