We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than turning in at night just to realize your furnace won’t kick on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can get clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but verify the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
